Every single device which is connected to the world wide web has a special identifier called IP (Internet Protocol) address. This includes computer systems, web servers, smartphones, switches, etc. The pool of IP addresses, that was introduced at first, has already been distributed, hence the so-called IPv4 IP addresses are steadily getting replaced with IPv6 addresses. Every domain that opens an internet site comes with an IP record, that is the address of the server where it's hosted. With the IPv4 system, the record is called A and it comprises of 4 sets of numbers from 1 to 255 separated by a dot, while in the IPv6 system it is called AAAA and it consists of eight sets of hexadecimal numbers i.e. this sort of records use digits from 0 to 9 and letters from A to F. A good example of an AAAA record is 2010:0c48:43d3:2142:1012:8c3a:2475:2435 and this format can handle a considerably greater number of IPs in comparison with the IPv4 format.

AAAA Records in Hosting

If you want to create a new AAAA record for any domain address or subdomain hosted in your hosting account, it won't take you more than a couple of simple steps to do that. Our in-house built Hepsia CP is rather intuitive to use and is going to enable you to create or change any record with ease. When you sign in and navigate to the DNS Records section, where you can find all existing records for your domains and subdomains, you'll just have to click on the "New" button, choose AAAA from a small drop-down menu in the pop-up that will appear, enter or paste the needed IPv6 address and save the change - it's as simple as that. The new record is going to be fully live within a maximum of 1 hour and the hostname that you have created it for is going to start opening whatever content you have with the other company. If needed, you'll also be able to modify the TTL (Time To Live) value, which shows the time in seconds the new record will be working after you eventually change it to something different or you simply delete it.

AAAA Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Creating a new AAAA record is extremely easy using our user-friendly Hepsia hosting Control Panel, so if you host a domain address inside a semi-dedicated server account from our company and you want such a record either for it or for a subdomain that you've created under it, you will be able to create it in a few quite simple steps and with no hassle. Hepsia has a section devoted to the DNS records of your domain addresses in which you can find all existing records or create new ones with a couple of mouse clicks. All it takes to do that is to pick the domain/subdomain you need to modify, select AAAA for the type from a drop-down menu and input the actual record i.e. the IPv6 address that the other company has given you. Within an hour after you save the modification, the newly created record is going to propagate world-wide and your domain will start forwarding to the third-party hosting server. If they need it, you could also change the TTL value, which indicates the time this record will be operating with its present value before a new one kicks in if you make any changes in the future.
